The initiative was led by Mauricio Neves de Jesus, the then-director of Inter de Lages, with the support of President José Susin. The initial goal of the team was to participate in municipal championships and represent Lages in the Games and Joguinhos Abertos de Santa Catarina.
Rise of the Team
In their debut year, the Leoas da Serra team won the Jocol de Futebol 7 and Jocol de Futsal, along with other smaller tournaments. In competitions organized by Fesporte, the Sub-18 team won the Microrregional Stage of Joguinhos Abertos, but did not advance to the State Stage. The adult team was the runner-up in the Regional Stage of Jogos Abertos and competed in the State Stage. At the end of 2013, the Sub-15 team won the SESC Futsal Cup, marking the first victory for a youth team.
Consolidation and Achievements
The adult team of Leoas da Serra continued to achieve excellent results, winning the regional championship of JASC twice and earning a silver medal in the state phase. The team’s growth and dedication attracted the attention of partners interested in supporting women’s sports in Brazil.
